24 Hours in Charleston

Allen had a work conference in Charleston for Thursday evening and Friday morning.  He never get to go anywhere fun on his work trip, so I decided to tag along!  It was a very quick 24 hour trip but I managed to squeeze in a few of my favorite things.

I wore this dress on the car ride down because it is super comfortable, cute and looks equally great with sneakers or heels.  I wasn't sure if we'd be able to check into our hotel room when we got their or what time we had Allen's work dinner that night.  I wanted to be prepared in case I didn't have to change before dinner.

I got to have lunch with the sweet Natalie of Designer Bags and Dirty Diapers.  We went to the Butcher & Bee.  It was fabulous.  We chatted, ate and had wine all outside on their patio because the weather was so beautiful.

It turns out that I had plenty of time to change for Allen's work dinner.  So I wore my staple- white shirt and distressed jeans since it was super casual.
We ate dinner at Prohibition.  It was not packed at all, which was surprising because the cocktails and food were all amazing!  I'm still dreaming about their deviled eggs and Pimento Cheese Stuffed Peppers!

Allen had his conference early Friday morning so I went and found an adorable little coffee place right near our hotel.  It was called Rise Coffee Bar and their Vanilla Almond Latte was one of the best cups of coffee I have ever had!  In Charlotte, we either have Starbucks or you have to venture towards uptown to find a great small coffee shop with delicious coffee.  Then I walked around looking at all of the beautiful places just waiting for shops to open up.

In Pink Chicken, I found Hollins her Easter dress and scored a couple of birthday presents for her upcoming 5th birthday!  I also checked out Hampden in their pop-up shop in the Belmond Shops at Charleston Place.  I fell in love with this dress but they sadly did not have it in my size.

I also found the (relatively) new Club Monaco.  It's a favorite New York spot of mine and this one was modeled after the one I love in NYC.  They told me that pretty soon they are going to have a cafe  in their beautiful back courtyard.  I can't wait to check that out on my next visit.  I put a couple of things on hold while I walked around but then sadly forgot to go get them.  I'll be ordering these online!

Allen finished up right at lunchtime so we headed to Leon's Oyster Shop.  It's a personal favorite of mine that Natalie had recommended during my last visit to Charleston.  We had oysters, Chicken Sandwiches and some yummy cocktails.

As we left town, I stopped in to Sugar Bakeshop and grabbed some cupcakes for my wicked sweet tooth and the ride home.  My absolute favorites were the Almond & Caramel.  So scrumptious!!!

I had such a great time, I'm already planning my next trip!!

STYLE SATURDAYS: Light & Bright

It's not looking like we going to have much of a winter in the Carolinas so I have started looking at all the beautiful light and bright Spring clothes.  The great thing about neutral like these are that you can keep the whole look neutral with nude helps or you can add a pop of color with shoes and jewelry.

Skin Routine

Skin Products

My skin isn't horrible but it isn't perfect either.  I broke out between the ages of 15 and 17 and then it miraculously cleared up.  I stayed blemish-free until the last couple of years.  After I finished having children for some reason the break outs started again. Ugh!  Now to be dealing with wrinkles, aging skin and blemishes... it just seems unfair.  My dermatologist prescribes my Acetone gel that I use twice a day under my moisturizer.  It helps with the break outs. Everything else listed either helps prep my skin or is the make-up that works best on my difficult, combination, aging skin! I'm still looking for a great nighttime moisturizer and skin oil, so please let me know your favorites!

Avéne Oil- Free Gel Cleanser
[from Woo]
This is what I use every night to wash my face.  My skin is super sensitive, sometimes its dry, sometimes I break out... you name it.  This works great along with my Clarisonic brush to remove my make-up and keep my face clean.

Revision Nectifirm
[from Infinity Med Spa]
I recently started using this at night when I noticed some wrinkles on my neck. Praying it works good and fast!!!

Elta Face Lotion with SPF 46
[from Infinity Med Spa]
This Elta is great because it not only protects you from the sun but also from breakouts!  It contains benezol peroxide so if you are oily or prone to breakouts- this is perfect for you!

I notice an immediate difference when I use the Caudalie eye cream with Resveratrol.  It reduces puffiness and smooths wrinkles.

Mario Badescu Face Spray
[from Anthropologie]
This is perfect when my face is feeling extra dry and an extra bottle stays in my beach/ pool bag all summer! It smells great too.

Lip Smart
[from Woo]
I use this for important events usually when I first get out of the shower.  It makes my lips appear slightly plumper by the time it's time to put on my lipstick and gloss.

Benefit Porefessional
[from Belk]
I dab a bit of this on my nose and the where my pores are larger on either side of my nose.  I also put a little bit on my forehead just between my eyebrows.

Chanel Concealer
[from Belk]
This is perfect for blemishes on your skin.  It covers all of your imperfections.

Chanel Aqua Liquid Foundation/ Powder
[from Belk]
For photoshoots and nights out I use this Chanel liquid Foundation and powder.  It has a little more coverage than the Studio Fix.

MAC Studio Fix
[from Belk]
I use a large powder brush to put this on everyday.  It feels light and has the perfect amount of coverage for day-to-day use.

This is one of the last things I put on.  After the eye-make-up, powder etc.... I put 3 dots under my eyes and pat in with my finger.  It covers any dark circles and brightens around your eyes to help you look less tired. If you are a mom, you know you need this!

Laura Mercier Bronzer
[from Woo]
This is my new favorite bronzer.  It's not too light, not too dark so it works great for my fair skin.

Laura Mercier Highlighter
[from Woo]
I dab just a bit of this on the top of my cheekbones to finish my face and give it a perfect glow. They have a few different colors but my personal favorite in Devotion.
