Allen had a work conference in Charleston for Thursday evening and Friday morning. He never get to go anywhere fun on his work trip, so I decided to tag along! It was a very quick 24 hour trip but I managed to squeeze in a few of my favorite things.
I wore this dress on the car ride down because it is super comfortable, cute and looks equally great with sneakers or heels. I wasn’t sure if we’d be able to check into our hotel room when we got their or what time we had Allen’s work dinner that night. I wanted to be prepared in case I didn’t have to change before dinner.
I got to have lunch with the sweet Natalie of Designer Bags and Dirty Diapers. We went to the Butcher & Bee. It was fabulous. We chatted, ate and had wine all outside on their patio because the weather was so beautiful.
It turns out that I had plenty of time to change for Allen’s work dinner. So I wore my staple- white shirt and distressed jeans since it was super casual.
We ate dinner at Prohibition. It was not packed at all, which was surprising because the cocktails and food were all amazing! I’m still dreaming about their deviled eggs and Pimento Cheese Stuffed Peppers!
Allen had his conference early Friday morning so I went and found an adorable little coffee place right near our hotel. It was called Rise Coffee Bar and their Vanilla Almond Latte was one of the best cups of coffee I have ever had! In Charlotte, we either have Starbucks or you have to venture towards uptown to find a great small coffee shop with delicious coffee. Then I walked around looking at all of the beautiful places just waiting for shops to open up.
In Pink Chicken, I found Hollins her Easter dress and scored a couple of birthday presents for her upcoming 5th birthday! I also checked out Hampden in their pop-up shop in the Belmond Shops at Charleston Place. I fell in love with this dress but they sadly did not have it in my size.
I also found the (relatively) new Club Monaco. It’s a favorite New York spot of mine and this one was modeled after the one I love in NYC. They told me that pretty soon they are going to have a cafe in their beautiful back courtyard. I can’t wait to check that out on my next visit. I put a couple of things on hold while I walked around but then sadly forgot to go get them. I’ll be ordering these online!
Allen finished up right at lunchtime so we headed to Leon’s Oyster Shop. It’s a personal favorite of mine that Natalie had recommended during my last visit to Charleston. We had oysters, Chicken Sandwiches and some yummy cocktails.
As we left town, I stopped in to Sugar Bakeshop and grabbed some cupcakes for my wicked sweet tooth and the ride home. My absolute favorites were the Almond & Caramel. So scrumptious!!!
I had such a great time, I’m already planning my next trip!!
